Defences

These intrusions into the landscape are coastal defences, installed along the North Sea coast during World War 2 when enemy invasion from the sea was a real threat. It is an embattled landscape, not just in terms of human conflict but also the relentless force of the sea, shaping the edges and margins. These margins where there is uncertainty; terra firma or flux are a recurring preoccupation for me.
